The Color Guard at Saugus High School is the strongest visual component in the Marching Band’s field show. These talented individuals incorporate dance, flags, rifles, and sabers throughout the performance to enhance the general effect as well as the visual achievement of the overall marching band. They meet 1st and 2nd period as well as Monday afternoons from 5:30-8:00 PM. They join the band at football games and competitions starting in September and concluding at the SCSBOA Championship in November.
Winter Guard begins the second semester of the school year. The color guard works over winter break and the majority of the month of January to create their very own winter show to be performed at competitions in the WGASC (Winter Guard Association of Southern California) Circuit. Their show incorporates dance, flags, rifles, sabers, and props in an effort to create an award-winning show. Since 2009 the Saugus Winter Guard has achieved great success, consistently placing in the top three places in their WGASC competitive circuit.
